Looking for a luxury mattress brand? As in seriously luxurious?
The makers of the most expensive mattress brands adhere to that philosophy and offer the most luxurious mattresses on the planet. Each manufacturer pulls out all the stops in the quest to become the best mattress brand that money can buy. People who are fortunate enough sleep on these mattresses surely have nothing but “caviar dreams”.
Hästens mattresses
Established in 1852, Hästens is the Sweden’s oldest mattress brand. The mattresses are handmade with all natural materials. Their Vividus mattress is one of the most expensive mattresses in the world starting at $59,000. Care and attention to detail puts these mattresses on everyone’s list of top mattress brands. The frame is hand crafted and secured by wooden pegs. The springs are placed by hand on top of the frame and tied together by hand in a way that the springs don’t make contact with each other. The Royal Family in Sweden sleeps on Hästens beds.
E.S. Kluft & Co. luxury mattresses
Do you have the means to buy a mattress with a price of $33,000 (yes, that’s THIRTY THREE THOUSAND) on a mattress? Then consider the E. S. Kluft.
Check out this Wall Street Journal article about their mattresses. As reported there, “Earl Kluft, chief executive of E.S. Kluft, a family-owned company based in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., says it takes 10 craftsmen about three days to make the Palais Royale, which contains 10 layers and more than 10 pounds of cashmere, mohair, silk and New Zealand wool that has been washed, dried and crimped. Natural latex foam and certified organic cotton are among the materials used to reduce motion transfer and provide cooling. The Sublime has a layer of horsehair for resiliency.”
If you don’t want to spend that much, you can always go for the much more reasonable Kluft Starry Night mattress for a mere $14,999.
Aireloom Mattresses
Aireloom luxury mattresses are so well regarded that they have been used by movie stars and Presidents. Even a movie star who became President! Supposedly, when Ronald Reagan entered the White House, all the beds were changed over to have an Aireloom mattress. How much do these cost? It’s hard to say, because you can’t find pricing online for most of the models. Macy does list some of the Aireloom mattress Vitagenic models, which can cost up to $9,000.
Shifman Mattresses
Shifman uses more than 50 different highly skilled craftspeople to manufacture each one of their luxury mattresses. The company was founded in 1893, and is located in Newark, New Jersey.
The Masters Collection is Shifman’s flagship mattress. It is hand made, and two sided. Shifman uses natural materials like cotton and latex and even pashmina in a few models. The mattress has a double offset innerspring, and comes in several firmness levels. The tuft is hand sewn from top to bottom, which locks up all of the upholstery layers. The boxsprings are hand tied at 8 different points with Italian twine. Each mattress and box spring has a heavy gauge steel edge support to strengthen the edges.
Magniflex mattresses
Magniflex, headquartered in Italy, produces 10,000 mattresses per day. The company distributes several brands in 45 countries around the world. Three of their most popular luxury mattress types are the platinum, gold and Seacell Emotion.
The mattress cover on the platinum collection is made with platinum fiber. The mattress is filled with Magniflex’s patented five zone memory foam containing soy and vegetable oil. The queen size retails for over $75,000. The gold mattress cover is 22 carat gold yarn which resists bacteria, dust mites and odors. The gold mattress starts at $24,000. The core of the Seacell Emotion mattress is treated with essential oils. The cover is infused with tiny particles of marine algae fiber. According to Magniflex, the fibers aid in cellular activity and contain vitamins and anti-oxidants that are transferred to the sleeper through osmosis.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses
Tempurpedic is a best luxury mattress brand contender due to the unique technology of the pressure absorbing, temperature sensitive material. The technology was first developed by NASA in the 1970’s and released to the public in the 1980’s.
This foam memory reacts to the body through a range of temperatures. It gets softer in warmer areas that have the most contact and stays firmer in cooler areas. In their advertising the company states that cells actually shift position as though the material knows how far the sleeper should be allowed to sink maintaining full support. The company’s 90 night tryout period has help make it one of the best mattress brands in the country.

The foam topper is filled with a down-like material which is comfortable and saves wear on the mattress. Although the company’s website does not quote the price for this ultimate luxury, top mattress brands lists all over the Internet set the price from $5,000 to over $6800. The DUX mattress also has Hollywood credentials. The opulent mattress was featured in a scene from the movie “Law Abiding Citizen” in 2009.
